Privacy policy
TEK-660 is a hobby project: a player, editor and MIDI librarian for the BOSS DR-660 drum machine that runs in the browser. This page says what it keeps about you. The short version: if you sign in, your e-mail address and your project; nothing else about you.
Without an account
You can use TEK-660 without signing in. Your project (patterns, songs, kits, settings) is kept in your own browser's storage and is not sent to the server. The server hands out the app and its sounds; like every web server it writes technical access logs (IP address, time, requested address, browser type), which are used to keep the site working and protected from abuse and, counted in aggregate, for the usage statistics below; they are deleted after a few weeks.
With an account
- Sign-in with Google. TEK-660 asks Google only for your e-mail address and your name (scopes
openid email profile); the first name is shown on the account button. It does not get your contacts, files, mail or anything else from your Google account, and it does not post anything on your behalf. - What is stored: your e-mail address, your first name as Google gives it, when the account was created and last used, your project (the kits, patterns and songs you make, so that it opens on any device where you sign in), and, once paid features exist, your plan and until when it is paid. A sign-in cookie keeps you signed in on this browser; it holds a random token, not your address.
- What it is used for: signing you in, keeping your project and, later, knowing which features you have paid for. Your project is not shown to anyone else. Your address is not sold, not shared with advertisers and not used for newsletters.
Usage statistics
To learn what people use and what does not work, the page reports what is done on it, not who does it:
- Events such as "opened the page", "pressed START on pattern 101", "changed the kit", "reached step 3 of the MIDI guide", and how many pads were hit. They carry a random number made for this browser tab only (no cookie; it is gone when the tab is closed), the type of device and browser (for example "iPhone, Safari"), the screen width and the site you came from. They are not linked to your account or your address. Kept 90 days.
- The server's access log (see above) is also counted in aggregate: how many visits, from which countries and networks. For this the country and network of an address are looked up in public routing data (Team Cymru).
- No advertising or analytics companies receive any of this.
- To opt out, open this site with
/?nostats=1at the end of its address once in your browser (open/?stats=1to turn it back on). Browsers with Global Privacy Control switched on are never counted.
Cookies
Only cookies needed for the site to work: the sign-in cookie (kept up to 180 days, or until you sign out) and a short-lived cookie during the Google sign-in (10 minutes). No advertising or tracking cookies.
Where the data lives
On a server in the Netherlands. Payments, when they come, will be handled by a payment provider; TEK-660 will store only the result (paid or not, and until when), never card details.
Deleting your data
Write to file.dyfi@gmail.com from the address you signed in with, and the account and everything stored with it, the project included, will be deleted. The copy of the project in your own browser stays until you clear the browser's data. You can also remove TEK-660's access in your Google account under Third-party connections.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
